 THE SCHOOL
Cambridge School, Granollers was set up in 1984. Two years later, having outgrown its original premises, it moved to the present site. Since 2000, we have opened four other schools in the area. Our geographical expansion has gone hand in hand with an expansion in student numbers, number of teachers, number of contracts with local companies and state schools, and other language services. Last but not least, our reputation over the years has grown and grown. We have an excellent reputation for quality of teaching and teacher training, not only amongst the people of the towns in which we are based, but also amongst the other schools in Catalonia. |

THE TOWN
Granollers has an attractive historical centre focused around the 'Porxada', an unusual Renaissance building which looks something like a Roman temple. In fact, it was built as a grain store - hence the name of the town, Granollers. The 'Porxada' is set in a big square flanked by shops bars and restaurants. It is an ideal place if you like sitting at pavement cafés watching the world go by. Nearby is the modern shopping centre. On Thursday mornings, the whole town centre is transformed into a huge market in which you can find a bewildering array of local products. |

AROUND THE TOWN
Granollers is very well situated as it is only half an hour by train to Barcelona but also within easy reach of the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees. Nearby is the national park of Montseny (1,700 metres), which is a beautiful natural area at any time of the year, particularly in the winter when it can often be seen capped in snow. The photograph shows Tossa de Mar, a very beautiful town on the Costa Brava, popular with tourists. |

OUR TRAINING DEPARTMENT
Ever since its beginning, Cambridge School has believed that the key to success in the world of language teaching is quality. It is for this reason that we have always placed so much importance on training and development. Our own teachers attend weekly seminars given by members of our highly experienced and innovative Teacher Training Team. They also attend level meetings, which are prepared and run by a 'level leader'. In these meetings, teachers plan lessons together, exchanging ideas and helping each other to make materials. Cambridge School also believes very strongly in the value of observation as a tool for development. As well as observations by senior teachers, our teachers are encouraged to observe each other. All observations are followed by a post-observation feedback session in which teacher and observer discuss the lesson together. Many of our teacher trainers have given seminars in other schools in the area and also in conferences in other parts of Spain. We have also had many articles published in teaching journals and magazines. |
|
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
One of the highlights of the Granollers social calendar is the Cambridge School Christmas pantomime, which attracts about 1000 people every year. The teachers are the actors and we have been putting on a pantomime every year since 1989.
We also arrange meals and nights out with students and there is a weekly English club in a local bar in which students and teachers meet to practise their English and Spanish. |
 |
|
|
EXTERNAL EXAMS
We prepare students for a wide range of Cambridge University ESOL examinations including Starters, Movers, KET, PET, First Certificate (FCE), CAE and Proficiency (CPE). We also offer the full range of Business English Certificates. In addition, we offer external examinations for the other languages that we teach. |
