ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN

Children aged 8-11 have a natural ability to learn languages. Given quality language teaching and lots of opportunities to practise and revise the language, they can learn very fast. This is the essential period in children's language learning: only if they build a solid linguistic base now, can they become excellent users of the language in adolescence.

Children studying English at Cambridge School from 8-11 enter a 4-stage programme which should leave them with:

•  A positive attitude to learning English and a desire to continue studying the language

•  A vocabulary of around 2,000 essential English words

•  Confident use of the basic grammar structures of the language

•  Elementary listening, speaking and reading skills

•  Accurate English spelling

Children aged 8-11 love learning English and full advantage should be taken of this positive attitude to secure a linguistic base before they progress to secondary school.

Native teachers are important because they have correct pronunciation and use natural spoken English. Children are natural mimics and usually have much better pronunciation than adults; exposure to native spoken English helps them achieve this. What's more, our 20 years of experience together with our fully qualified teaching staff guarantee the high level of professionalism of our programmes.
