ENROLMENT PROCEDURE

Ideally you should:

•  have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education
•  be aged 20 or over
•  have a standard of English which will enable you to teach at a range of levels.

We may still accept you if you do not have formal qualifications at this level but can show that you would be likely to complete the course successfully. Equally, we may accept applicants aged between 18 and 20 if we feel that you will be able to cope with the demands of the course.

A broad range of people do the Cambridge ESOL CELTA course, for example:

  • People who have just left university or college who are looking for a career.
  • People who have just left university or college who want to travel abroad for a year or two before they settle down to a career in their own country.
  • People who are seeking a career change.
  • Mature people who find they have some free time on their hands and want to do something interesting and different.
  • People who aren't interested in looking for work but just want to do the course because it would be interesting or useful in the future.

It doesn't matter which variety of English you speak whether it be American English, British English, Australian English etc.

Applicants usually speak English as their first language but applicants who have a different first language but who speak English particularly well, would be very welcome to apply. Many such applicants have done very well on the course in the past.
